How Move-In Scheduling Works
Wabash Building (WB)
- Your details will be sent in a Welcome email from Residence Life
- You will be assigned a move-in date and time
- Assignments are based on:
- When you completed your housing application
- Your student type (new, returning, CCPA, etc.)
University Center (UC)
- You must schedule your own move-in appointment through the University Center Student Portal
- Instructions will be emailed to you in a Welcome message from University Center (Peakmade)
- Be sure to:
- Check your Roosevelt email
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Add the sender to your contacts to avoid missing important messages
Important Reminders
- Move-in emails are sent late July – early August
- Emails are sent only to your Roosevelt student email
- Move-in dates are scheduled around the week classes begin
Move-In Schedule (Fall 2026, WB & UC)

Early arrival (athletes): Contact your coach directly for approval.
Wabash Building Residents
Location: 425 S. Wabash Ave. (between Van Buren and Ida B. Wells)
- Wabash is a one-way street (southbound)
- Approach from north of Van Buren to reduce traffic congestion
Check-In Process
On your move-in day:
- Arrive at your assigned time
- Pull up to the building (if driving). Arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your time slot
- Unload your belongings onto Speed Packs (rolling carts)
- Move your belongings into the building
- Complete check-in and pick up your room key
Unloading & Parking Rules
- You may use the unloading zone for up to 15 minutes only
- Do not leave your vehicle unattended, unattended vehicles may be towed
- After unloading, move your car to long-term parking
- Roosevelt does not provide parking, so plan ahead; apps like SpotHero or BestParking can help
Additional Check-In Steps
You may move through these stations:
- Unloading area (if arriving by car)
- Guest check-in (if bringing guests)
- Room key pickup (Level 1M)
ID Required
- You must have a Roosevelt ID to receive your room key
- If you don’t have one yet, you will need to get it before check-in
Mail & Packages (Wabash)
- Every student has a personal mailbox
- Mailbox details are emailed after move-in
Delivery timing:
- Packages: can arrive up to 1 week before move-in
- Pick up packages at: Mailroom (Auditorium Building, 1st floor lobby)

Meal Plans (Wabash)
- Meal plans are active on move-in day
- Use your student ID at: McCormick Dining Center (2nd floor)
University Center Residents
Location: 525 S. State Street
Unloading Instructions
- Go to Holden Court (via Ida B. Wells Drive)
- Pull up at your scheduled appointment time
- Someone must stay with your vehicle at all times
After unloading:
- Move your car immediately
- Parking is not provided
- Nearby garages and apps like SpotHero or BestParking can help
Speed Packs (Moving Carts)
- UC provides large rolling carts (“Speed Packs”)
- Most students can move everything in 1–2 trips
- You’ll need to leave an ID while using them
Check-In Process
Check-in takes place on the 2nd floor.
You will receive:
- University Center ID
- Bedroom and closet key
- Room Condition Report (RCR) instructions
- Mailbox information
- Meal plan details
Guests
- Each resident may bring up to 2 guests during move-in
Meal Plans (University Center)
- Meal plans are active on move-in day
- Use your student ID at the UC Dining Center (2nd floor)
Mail & Packages (UC)
- Packages may arrive up to 48 hours before move-in
- Mail and package details will be provided at check-in
Moving Out
Additional Move-out information will be provided by the end of the Fall semester.

You can order packing materials directly from Campus Storage and their moving professionals will do the heavy lifting, store your items in a climate-controlled storage facility, and deliver it to your new residence!
