General Procedures

  1. Final examinations, if they are to be given, are given only during the final week of the semester. They may not be given earlier.

  2. What to do if you must miss a final exam — Let the instructor know as soon as possible before the exam. If the instructor finds your excuse acceptable, he or she may give you an incomplete and schedule an exam for you at a later date. The instructor is the only individual authorized to permit a student to defer a final exam.

  3. The instructor has the option of giving a final paper or project in place of a final exam.

Scheduling of Exams

  1. Time and day(s) that class meets: Exam times are determined by the schedule above according to when the class regularly meets during the semester. Classes meeting once a week, except those times listed above, will be given exams at the regular class time during finals week. All Final Exams that follow the grid are scheduled by the scheduling office each semester. If your class falls outside of standard meeting patterns you will need to make a reservation for your final exam in 25Live directly. If you have any questions or need further assistance, contact scheduling@roosevelt.edu

  2. Location: Unless other arrangements are made, final exam locations are the rooms in which the class has met. Instructors of courses with non-traditional meeting schedules should contact room scheduling in the Office of the Registrar to arrange for an exam location. If a student doesn't have time to travel between downtown and Schaumburg campuses for an exam, they should contact their instructor to make arrangements for a make-up.

  3. Exam Conflicts: The exam schedule is designed to prevent conflicts. In case of conflicts, here is what happens if you have an exam conflict:

    1. For Spring semester – course listed second by subject code in the online Schedule of Classes has precedence.

    2. If a student finds they have an exam conflict, they are responsible for informing their instructor by three weeks prior to the exam date.

    3. If a student finds they have less than 30 minutes between exams, they are responsible for informing their instructor by three weeks prior to the exam date.

  4. Commencement: Students who are participating in commencement may make arrangements with their instructor to take their exam at a different time should it overlap with the ceremony. Students should notify the instructor by three weeks prior to commencement for rescheduling.

  5. A student having more than three examinations in a day. No student will be required to take more than three final examinations in one day. Any student having more than three final examinations scheduled in one day is entitled to rescheduling. Students must notify all of their affected instructors by April 1 in the spring semester to be eligible for scheduling. To resolve this conflict, any fourth or additional final examinations that are scheduled on the same day must be rescheduled and taken on another day within finals week.
