Students complete coursework in psychopathology, research methods, statistics, and professional and ethical issues. Students can select from either an applied or quantitative methods concentration and select electives from a broad assortment of graduate psychology courses. Faculty will help students tailor their experiences to fit ultimate career and educational goals.

Expectations & Requirements


The degree requires 30 credit hours of coursework, including six core courses and four elective courses. Course selections are in consultation with an advisor.  Students are expected to maintain a GPA of 3.0 to remain in good standing.

Students may select from two concentrations:

Quantitative Methods, which requires the following elective courses:

  • Intermediate Statistics
  • Advanced Statistics

Applied, which includes the following elective courses (select four):

  • Foundations of Counseling
  • Chemical Dependence
  • Assessment in Counseling
  • Theories of Psychotherapy
  • Mental Health Practice in Settings
