Violins of Hope Performance & Symposium with Avshi Weinstein

In partnership with JCC Chicago, Violins of Hope is coming to Chicagoland from April-September 2023. The collection of 70 string instruments played by Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust have been painstakingly restored and will be part of cultural exhibitions, performances, and community education with a message of hope, resistance, resilience, and unity. 

This program includes a presentation with third-generation Israeli violin maker Avshalom (Avshi) Weinstein, founder of the Violins of Hope project together with his father, Amnon. Violins of Hope refers to the Weinsteins’ collection of instruments with unique stories dating back to Jewish musical tradition and World War II. Both Amnon and Avshalom Weinstein collect these instruments and restore them with love and attention and bring them back to life as concert instruments.

This event is free - no registration required. Non-Roosevelt guests may be asked to show photo ID to enter campus buildings.
