SHAKESPEARE'S TIME
as part of the 2024 COLLABORATIVE WORKS FESTIVAL
In Concert I of The Song of the Bard, journey to the 16th and early 17th century, back to the time when William Shakespeare was deep in the writing of his acclaimed plays and sonnets. This concert allows audiences to explore the music of famed composers creating alongside Shakespeare.
Hear how contemporaries, such as John Dowland, Francesca Caccini, Claudio Monteverdi, Alfonso Ferrabosco II, and others were exploring music and literary themes during this crucial period for European art and music.
Join acclaimed Chicago-soprano Hannah De Priest, violist da gamba Craig Trompeter, and artistic director, tenor Nicholas Phan for this evening exploring the stylings and sounds of Shakespeare's contemporaries.
