About Me

Shanna VanDerwerker has a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Point Park University. As a professional dancer Shanna performed on Broadway, national tours, several regional theaters, and Walt Disney World. Her favorite credits include the Broadway company of Wicked, Dance Captain of the First National Tour of Wicked, and dre.dance dance company (Andrew Palermo and Taye Diggs, directors).  She was the Associate Choreographer of Amazing Grace on Broadway and the Assistant Choreographer of High Fidelity on Broadway. Shanna has choreographed for Porchlight Music Theatre, Mercury Theater Chicago (Jeff Award Winning Spamalot) and choreographed the Chicago premiere of Lysistrata Jones for Refuge Theater Project for which she received a Jeff Nomination. She is also a recurring choreographer at The Fireside Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI where her favorites include Saturday Night Fever, 42nd St, Newsies, and Singin' In The Rain. She has choreographed for numerous studios and festivals around the country including Regional Dance America Midstates in Madison, WI and the Educational Theater Association's International Thespian Festival 2015. Shanna is also on faculty at Visceral Dance Center in Chicago. While her style is primarily musical theater jazz, she also teaches ballet, tap, lyrical, partnering and beginner ballroom.
