The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMCH) program is accredited by CACREP and requires students to pass the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam (CPCE) as a requirement for graduation. As a result, 100% of graduates in the CMCH program have passed the CPCE. Graduates may also elect to complete the National Counselor Exam (NCE), which is required in Illinois and many other states to obtain licensure as a counselor.
School Counseling students complete the CPCE as a requirement for graduation. As a result, 100% of graduates in the School Counseling program have passed the CPCE. Students seeking licensure in Illinois must pass the ILTS School Counselor Exam and obtain a Professional Educator License (PEL) with a school counselor endorsement. From 2021 to 2025, all graduates obtained their PEL and passed the ILTS School Counselor Exam.
