About Me

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lucas Segovia began his dance training at the age of 16. Just three years later, he joined Ballet Argentino as a Soloist under the direction of Julio Bocca. He quickly rose through the ranks, earning a promotion to Principal Dancer and the distinct honor of performing a solo in Bocca’s farewell performance before an audience of more than 300,000.

Lucas has been a member of major international companies, including The Washington Ballet, Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company under Christopher Wheeldon, and The Joffrey Ballet. During his time at The Joffrey Ballet, he performed extensively across the company’s repertoire as both a Soloist and Principal Dancer. His repertoire spans a wide range of iconic works by leading choreographers such as George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, Mark Morris, Christopher Wheeldon, Wayne McGregor, Alexei Ratmansky, William Forsythe, Val Caniparoli, Yuri Possokhov, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa.

In addition to his classical and contemporary work, Mr. Segovia has appeared in several musical theatre productions, including West Side Story at Drury Lane Theatre, where he portrayed Bernardo, as well as the Broadway productions of An American in Paris and Brigadoon.

Throughout his career, Lucas has performed in over 450 cities worldwide, appearing on many of the world’s most prestigious stages. His achievements have been recognized with the Premio Clarín, one of Argentina’s highest arts awards.

As an educator and coach, Lucas has taught master classes throughout the United States and internationally, including in Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, and Amsterdam. He has served as a guest teacher at institutions such as Northwestern University and Point Park University, as well as with organizations including Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Company, Chicago Repertory Ballet, and Boca Ballet Theatre.

As a director and leader, Lucas is the Artistic Director of Rockford Dance Company, where he has directed and choreographed original productions of renowned ballets, working with casts of more than 130 dancers, singers, and actors.
