Roosevelt University McNair Scholars

McNair Scholars Program

The McNair Scholars Program is a federal program granted by the Department of Education. Our mission is to provide 25 promising undergraduates per year who identify as first-generation with financial need or underrepresented in graduate education with the knowledge necessary to achieve and successfully complete a research-based advanced degree.

Student Support Services – STEM

SSS Stem collectively engages, recruits and retains a cohort of 120 STEM students per year who identify as first-generation, low income or have a documented disability. The program helps students stay on track, achieve academically, persist and graduate on time by providing high-quality holistic, proactive and comprehensive supportive services.

Equity Teaching Academy

The Equity Teaching Academy is a faculty development program centered on issues of equity, difference, and inclusion in teaching and learning. It aims to: educate instructors on issues of equitable teaching and learning in higher education and at RU; create productive conditions for participants to reflect on their pedagogy and pursue areas for growth; provide opportunities for peer interaction, collaboration, and leadership; empower participants to build the collective pedagogical expertise among the RU faculty; and contribute to a culture of belonging among RU faculty and students.

Pre-College Access Programs

Pre-college access programs, such as the Black Male Leadership Academy, provide high school students with a wide range of college-readiness experiences.

Fall 2018 Registration

Reentry Support Institute

Since 1989, the Reentry Support Institute has provided skills training, employment preparation and case management assistance to formerly incarcerated individuals returning to the Chicagoland area.
