CCPA Summer Programming for 2019
Chicago Guitar Festival: June 1-2 -- Open to guitarists of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. A weekend of competition, performances, masterclasses, clinics, and lectures. Artists and Judges include Rene Izquierdo, Denis Azabagic, Pamela Kimmel, Michael Chatara Morse, Zhivko Nikolov, and Kacey Ellis. Flute Symposium of Chicago: June 7-9 -- Flute Symposium of Chicago is a three day event that will feature masterclasses, interactive classes, and student and faculty recitals. It is open to all levels including high school, undergraduate and graduate students, and professionals. Featured teachers include: Hideko Amano, Stefan Ragnar Hoskuldsson, Mimi Tachouet (CCPA artist faculty), and Eugenia Moliner (CCPA artist faculty) with piano accompanist Beilin Han. Observer/Visitor fee includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday Morning Warm ups; Flute choir participation; listening to the masterclasses and attending the concerts Sunday afternoon: $150; Active participant fee includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday Warm Ups; Playing one Masterclass; separate coaching with pianist and possible concert participation: $275. CCPA Brass Camp: June 19-21 -- A three day intensive for brass players: clinics, workshops, master classes, and more. Cost is $325. On-campus housing is available at an additional cost. Deadline is May 19; housing deadline is April 1. Apply: https://app.getacceptd.com/rooseveltmusic

CCPA American Music Institute: June 23-28 -- What type of musician do you want to be? What will your contribution to American music look and sound like? This institute is for students interested in exploring jazz, blues, folk, musical theater, American songbook, cabaret, contemporary, roots music, and more. Open to jazz instrumentalists and all vocal styles. Cost is $500. On-campus housing is available at an additional cost. Deadline is June 9; housing deadline is April 1. Chicago Saxophone Institute: June 23-29 -- A week of intensive study for classical saxophonists: clinics, workshops, master classes, and more. Cost $400. On-campus housing is available at an additional cost. Deadline is June 9; housing deadline is April 1. Apply for Chicago Saxophone Institute.
Summer Composition Institute: July 15-26 -- Explore and develop acoustic and electro-acoustic compositional skills in this two-week intensive! Open to young composers through advanced compositional skills. Guests artists: Dr. Winston Choi (piano) and Ms. MingHuan Xu (violin)! Cost is $850. Housing deadline is April 1. American Culture and Language Institute (for ELP students): August 5-16 -- Two weeks of exploring American culture and the English Language presented in conjunction with the ELP program and CCPA. Open to ELP students in any area of study; music students will have a special class on achieving musical goals. Cost is $1200. Housing options are available. Deadline is June 7. These programs are generally open to high school and early college aged students (rising Sophomores in HS through early college), but can be flexible based on application/audition. All programming will take place on the Chicago campus of Roosevelt University (430 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60605).
Housing for applicable programs is available first-come, first served. The deadline to apply for summer housing is APRIL 1.
