About Me

Tom Garling, one of today’s leading jazz trombonists, has performed with such greats as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, and Randy Brecker. In 1986, at the age of twenty, Garling began touring with Buddy Rich. He then toured for six years with Maynard Ferguson’s Big Bop Nouveau Band, serving four years as musical director. Tom has played on numerous recordings with Maynard Ferguson, including Maynard Ferguson Presents Tom Garling, as well as Tito Puente’s Special Delivery, and four Frank Mantooth albums.

Garling holds a masters degree in Jazz Composition and Arranging from the University of Miami; his talents have been utilized by Tito Puente and Liza Minelli, and two of his big band arrangements were recorded for the Michael Feinstein and Maynard Ferguson album Big City Rhythm.
