About Me

Dr. Heidi A. Truax is both a Clinical Assistant Professor of School Counseling here at RU as well as a full time school counselor at Simpson Academy for Young Women of Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Truax’s research interests include the experiences of transgender youth, somatic psychology, solution focused brief therapy, and feminist/queer theory. Truax holds a PEL and an LPC within the state of Illinois and was the Honorable Mention for the Illinois High School Counselor of the Year in 2017.  She serves the counseling profession both nationally and locally as a lead program reviewer for the American School Counseling Association, a board member for the Illinois School Counseling Association, and a Master Counselor supporting CPS’ 700+ school counselors.
