Kris Tupas

About Me

After graduating from the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Purdue University, Dr. Tupas completed PGY-1 and PGY-2 residencies specializing in ambulatory care pharmacy at Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka, IN. She is board certified in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) as well as ambulatory care (BCACP). In her current role as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences at Roosevelt University, she primarily teaches in the Integrated Sequence courses and coordinates a Postgraduate Preparation elective in the winter term. She also serves as a co-advisor for Roosevelt's chapter of the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP).

Dr. Tupas's practice site is at Advocate Sykes Outpatient Center in Chicago, IL. As a clinical pharmacist at Sykes, she works under a Scope of Practice agreement to optimize and monitor medication therapy for chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, anticoagulation, and heart failure. She precepts Advanced Practice Pharmacy Experience (APPE) students at her clinical site throughout the year.

Research areas of interest include global health; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Her recent projects include an evaluation of the teaching of systemic racism in PharmD curricula and barriers to implementation nationwide; a collaboration with the Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) in the delivery and assessment of a continuing professional development (CPD) curriculum for clinic staff in sub-Saharan Africa; and evaluating approaches to teaching social determinants of health in cardiovascular courses.
