Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) is the term for the broad field that includes advertising, public relations, direct marketing, sales promotion and numerous other forms of professional persuasive communications activities. Through course work and a required professional internship in the field, students are prepared for entry-level work in any area of this broad field, including agencies, organizations and companies in advertising, public relations and marketing.

Expectations & Requirements


Roosevelt's integrated marketing communications program prepares students to meet the marketing and communication challenges of 21st-century companies and nonprofit organizations. Hands-on assignments in the classroom are modeled after actual industry work, and our experienced faculty ensure students are up to date with the latest trends and marketing and communications techniques. All students in this major are required to complete a capstone project course as well as a professional internship in advertising, public relations, marketing services or a related field.

Minor Requirements

Students can complete a minor in integrated marketing communications taking five IMC courses. Students in the minor complete three required courses (IMC 202, IMC 302, and IMC 303) plus two additional IMC courses of their choosing. The minor in total is 15-16 credit hours, depending on which two courses the student chooses as electives. An internship in this field is an optional course for students in the minor.
