Alejandra Gonzalez Lopez

About Me

My research program focuses on the intersections of interpersonal trauma and oppression experienced by women, gender and sexual minority individuals, and Latine communities. I research experiences of intimate partner violence, gender- and ethnoracial-based violence, resilience, and posttraumatic stress disorder, with an emphasis on community-engaged research. My research aims to understand recovery and psychological functioning following trauma exposure, with particular emphasis on culturally responsive approaches to mental health research among historically marginalized communities. I also study career development and training for women and racialized populations in the U.S.

I am a licensed psychologist in Illinois and Ohio. I received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Akron and completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Southwest Consortium in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
