Department of History and Philosophy


The Department of History and Philosophy offers programs of study leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history, bachelor’s degree in philosophy, and minors in history, philosophy, and fine arts. Courses in history fulfill requirements in the following affiliated programs:

NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS ENTERING HISTORY MA PROGRAM IN FALL 2014.  These new requirements apply only to students entering the program in Fall 2014 or later.

NEW HISTORY GRADUATE PROGRAM PARTNERSHIP WITH DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY!  The Department of History & Philosophy is pleased to announce an agreement with Dominican University for a Master’s Degree in History and a Certificate in Archival and Cultural Resources and Services.  Students earn the MA degree in history at Roosevelt (24 or 27 semester hours) and the certificate at Dominican (15 semester hours).  For a description of the program and its requirements, click here.  If interested, please contact Professor Margaret Rung, Chair, Department of History & Philosophy.
