Alumni Weekend 2008

Roosevelt University alumni of all ages gathered on April 25 and 26 for several great activities as part of our Alumni Weekend program.

For those who missed it, following is a brief overview of activities:

The Legacy of Harold Washington, ’49

Co-hosted by the Harold Washington Commemorative Year, this two-part event honored the enduring impact of one of Roosevelt’s most distinguished alumni with a gallery reception and panel discussion in RU's Gage Gallery.  Guests enjoyed viewing photographs from the book, Harold! Photographs from the Harold Washington Years, and the chance to meet the book's photographers and authors who were on hand to discuss the exhibit and sell and sign books.

Following the reception, an all-star panel of RU alumni, faculty and trustees shared their personal reflections about Harold’s life, tenure as mayor and his legacy. Panelists included: Dr. Christopher Reed, BA ’63 and MA ’65; Dr. Paul Green; Dempsey Travis, BA ’49; and Judge Blanche Manning, MA ’72.   

Annual Spring Fling

A great group of graduating seniors and recent alumni met up at 10Pin Bowling Lounge downtown for an evening of fun and celebration as we welcomed our newest class of alumni to the family.

Latin Jazz Ensemble Performance

Alumni and friends were treated to a performance by RU's Chicago College of the Performing Arts student Latin Jazz Ensemble.

Art Institute – Alumni Lecture & Group Tour of the Hopper and Homer Exhibits

Alumni joined up for a private lecture, slide show and then toured the Edward Hopper and Winslow Homer special exhibits at the Art Institute of Chicago-- all at a reduced rate, just for RU alumni!
