All candidates for a Roosevelt University undergraduate degree must plan to take their final 30 credits at Roosevelt University. This "in residence" rule is required since the advance work of their major study normally occurs in the last year of the undergraduate program. The university-wide requirement in all colleges with undergraduate programs is as follows:

  • Students must take a minimum of their last 30 credit hours at Roosevelt University.
  • If a student wishes to seek an exception to the residency requirement (Final 30-Hour Rule), an exception form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar listing the school to be attended, the term of attendance, and the reason for requesting the exception.Please note that the student must have completed a minimum of 30 hours at Roosevelt, excluding the number of hours in the exception request. The request must be approved by the student's advisor, the department chair, the dean of the college, the vice provost for faculty and academic administration before submission to the Office of the Registrar. The transfer credit cannot be added to the student's academic record and/or applied towards graduation without a completed and approved Exception Request to Residency Requirement - Final 30 Hour Rule form on file in the Office of the Registrar.
  • Exceptions will be made only for viable reasons. Please note that cost alone is typically not considered a legitimate reason.
