Danielle Allen, Harvard University professor, MacArthur fellow and author of the new book Cuz: The Life and Times of Michael A. will discuss the memoir about her personal anguish in losing a younger cousin as a teen to the criminal justice system and prison. Just released, the book tells a personal story and critiques our penal system that took not only the life of Allen’s cousin, but also a lost generation of young people who face enormous obstacles in returning to a normal life after release from prison. The new book has been featured in the New York Times, Publisher’s Weekly and The New Yorker.  A book-signing will follow Allen’s lecture entitled Cuz: The Untimely End of an American  Dream: A Conversation about Race, Justice, Incarceration and the Loss of a Generation.
