The Library offers several professional development workshops throughout the semester. These workshops are designed to cover basic software and technology commonly used by students at Roosevelt University. Workshops are held at both campuses! Workshops will be held at the Murray-Green Library (AUD 10th floor) computer lab or the Schaumburg Campus Library (Room 140) computer lab. Please see below for a list of workshops and descriptions. Spring 2017 Microsoft Office Workshops

Microsoft Word

This workshop is for the beginner to intermediate user of Microsoft Word. This workshop will cover common word processing commands students regularly use including navigating the Microsoft Office interface, copy/paste, clipboard, fonts, page layout and design, saving and sharing documents for individuals and for group work, and much more.

Microsoft Word Advanced

Whether you are experienced or still learning Microsoft Word, this workshop will expand your expertise with word processing. This workshop will cover common features used by university students including references & citations, footnotes & endnotes, table of contents, mail merge & labels, language settings, tracking changes, tables, authoring documents, and much more.

Microsoft Excel

Harness the power to organize, calculate, and manage data with Microsoft Excel. This workshop will cover the basics of spreadsheets, building tables & budgets, formula basics, number/text formats, spreadsheet printing, and other key functions to enhance your skills with Excel.

Microsoft Excel Advanced

Enhance your Excel skills by learning more dynamic functions. This workshop will cover more advanced features by working with complex formulas, reference lookups, tables, charts & graphs, and pivots. Also, learn how to share and save Excel spreadsheets with others in real time for group projects.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Need to give a presentation for class? Learn how to put together a presentation from scratch! This workshop will cover themes, transition and animation basics, slide printing, hyperlinks, slideshow controls, and other presentation tips and tricks!

Microsoft PowerPoint Advanced

Take your PowerPoint skills to next level. This workshop will cover working with the slide master, notes & notes master, sharing & collaborating with others on a presentation, inserting videos & music, and slideshow timing.

Chicago Campus - Thursday, March 30; 2:00-3:30 P.M.

Microsoft Access

Learn the basics of relational databases by developing a database from scratch. This workshop will focus on tables, integrity rules, query building, macros, and relationships. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is recommended.

Chicago Campus – Tuesday, April 4; 2:00-3:30 P.M. 

Microsoft Publisher

Learn how to quickly create promotional and marketing materials. This workshop will focus on designing flyers and brochures with common commands including page designs, templates, envelopes and mail merge, advertisements, and linking data.
