The Starting Out At Roosevelt (SOAR) program is designed with you in mind. At SOAR your questions will be answered, you will discover what it means to be a student at Roosevelt, and you will gain critical information about student services and resources. Most importantly, you will register for courses and secure your seat as a new student to Roosevelt.

At the SOAR program you will complete the following:

  • Academic Advising: Meet with an advisor to discuss course requirements and how your class schedule can be customized to meet your scheduling needs.
  • Financial Aid: Review and complete your financial aid package and explore additional aid options available to students.
  • Course Registration: Register for courses for the upcoming academic semesters.
  • Billing and Payment Arrangements: Review the tuition and fees associated with your Roosevelt education and explore various payment options.

Things to Accomplish Prior to SOAR

We encourage all students to complete the following tasks prior to attending SOAR. Doing so will ensure a successful SOAR experience.

Transportation, Location, and Arrival Details


As a commitment to sustainability, Roosevelt encourages all participants to utilize public transportation. Roosevelt's Chicago campus is conveniently located near many Chicago Transit Authority and Metra locations. For individuals wishing to drive, several pay-to-park options are available within walking distance of the campus. Find out more about transportation options.

Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled SOAR program. The event will start promptly at the scheduled time. Accommodations for individuals arriving late may be limited, based upon staff availability. Registration will take place in the lobby of the Wabash building - please use the entrance located on Wabash Avenue.

We request that all participants and guests bring a government-issued photo ID.
