The Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA) program is designed to enable graduates in the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and other fields, as well as graduates in business, to complete a professional accounting program on a part-time or full-time basis.  The masters degree in accounting coursework stresses teamwork and group projects, with many case analyses and written and oral presentations. Actuarial Science, MS
Actuarial science applies probability theory and risk management to the areas of life and health insurance, property and casualty insurance, pension plans, and other employee benefit plans. Students who seek a graduate degree in actuarial science may have earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics, finance, economics, computer science, or other related field. Roosevelt will accept its first graduate actuarial science cohort in Fall 2017.

Biomedical Sciences, MA

The master's in Biomedical Science is a 9 to 12 month program designed to help students with a bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in the sciences, improve their academic foundation in the biomedical sciences and gain admission into medical school or other health professional programs.  The masters degree in biomedical science builds formal skills in analysis of the biomedical literature and of ethical questions that impact the medical profession.

Biotechnology and Chemical Science (Biotechnology Management), MS

The objectives of the Master's of Science in Biotechnology and Chemical Science degree program are to provide practical laboratory skills and a strong conceptual foundation in the many overlapping disciplines that comprise biotechnology, and to prepare students for the application of these skills in the workplace. Biotechnology Management is one of four tracks within the program.

The Professional Diploma in Chamber Music is designed to provide guidance, support and opportunities to an established post-baccalaureate string quartet seeking to develop a career as a performing ensemble. Students matriculate into the program as an ensemble, rather than as individuals.

The Master of Music in Classical Guitar Performance prepares students for life as a professional classical guitarist through development of technical and musical abilities, lessons and ensembles, and advanced musicianship and analytical skills.

The Classical Performance Diploma allows advanced students to undertake an intensive period of performance study to concentrate on repertories and genres of their choice.
Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MA

The Master's of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) prepares students to help children and adults cope with difficult life events such as physical illness, death of loved ones, and relationship problems or divorce. It also shows students how to diagnose and manage serious mental illnesses and obtain resources and support. The intensive, field-based curriculum prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse individuals and families. The program satisfies academic requirements for licensure as a professional counselor and clinical professional counselor in the State of Illinois. It also meets the academic requirements for national certification in mental health counseling (CCMHC) and for national counselor certification (NCC).

Clinical Psychology (Counseling Practice), MA
This program is designed for those who are interested in clinical practice at the master’s level. In Illinois (and many other states), completion of this program qualifies graduates to apply for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC, and later LCPC). The program is 60 semester hours that provides broad-based training in psychological assessment and intervention as well as in the theory and research that supports these practices. This program also provides appropriate preparation for those wishing to apply to PsyD and PhD programs in clinical psychology.
Clinical Psychology, MA
This is a 39 to 40 semester-hour program that provides broad-based training in psychological assessment and intervention as well as in the theory and research that supports these practices. This program is designed for those who are currently employed in fields such as social work, counseling, nursing or business, and wish to broaden their areas of expertise. This program also prepares students who wish to pursue a doctorate degree in psychology. The program does not fulfill educational requirements for a master's level license to practice in Illinois. for license eligibility, please see the MA in Clinical Psychology: Counseling Practice program.

Graduates of Roosevelt's Doctor of Psychology program work in a broad array of settings and roles, including providing psychotherapy and psychological testing services in private practice, hospitals, community mental health centers, schools, university counseling centers, and VAs; developing and directing programs to support mental health and wellness; engaging in applied research and program evaluation; and teaching, education and clinical supervision.

Community Development and Action, MA

We’re excited to announce that the Applied Sociology, MA program has now evolved into an original new program replacing the current sociology master's program indefinitely. The innovative new program is titled the Master of Arts in Community Development and Action, also known as MACDA. Offered at Roosevelt University’s downtown Chicago campus, MACDA will begin in the Fall of 2017 semester.

The degree can also enhance a professional’s ability to manage conflict in their current organization. Dual Language Teacher Leadership, MA
The MA in Dual Language Teacher Leadership (DLTL) prepares licensed teachers to implement innovative instructional and leadership strategies that support dual language education—a dynamic, highly effective form of education in which students are taught literacy and content in two languages. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add both the Bilingual/ESL and Teacher Leader endorsements to their Illinois teaching license.
Early Childhood Education, MA

The MA in Early Childhood Education (ECHD) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children from birth to third grade. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to an Illinois teaching credential.

Economics, MA
Roosevelt is one of the few universities in the United States where students can study economics from heterodox points of view. A commitment to pluralism, intellectual tolerance, and diversity of thought and method are essential to the Roosevelt approach to economics. Courses at Roosevelt include eclectic, institutionalist, Post Keynesian, feminist, and Marxist approaches to economic analysis in addition to standard Neoclassical and Keynesian approaches. Our objective is not to replace one orthodoxy with another but rather to encourage students to view economics as an evolving discipline that can help them make sense of the world around them and succeed in a rewarding career.

The study of history is critical to the creation of a just society. Like Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, for whom our University is named, our history master’s program encourages students to take this ethos and put it to work as teachers and experts across a variety of fields. Students in the MA program have the option to earn an additional certificate at a partner institution for work in archives or other institutions devoted to preservation of historical resources.

The Professional Diploma in Opera program offers singers and pianists of exceptional career promise two years of continued guidance in their development as artists. Participants are given weekly voice lessons, vocal and dramatic coaching, seminars, and performance classes concentrating on audition preparation with CCPA's illustrious faculty, all while receive a 100 percent tuition scholarship.

The Flex-Track master's degree in organization development is focused on improving workplace performance in a 21st century global business world. With changes in globalization, information technology and managerial innovation, organizations need professionals to build systems to support and improve both people and performance in the workplace. Professionals in organization development help build adaptable organizations while advancing employee capabilities to achieve higher levels of success.  


Paralegal Studies, Post Baccalaureate Certificate

For 40 years, Roosevelt University’s ABA-approved paralegal studies program has produced graduates ready to have immediate impact inside a firm or another legal environment. Roosevelt-trained paralegal professionals are knowledgeable, effective and a critical part of the legal team.

Paralegals perform substantive legal work under the direct supervision of an attorney. Paralegals must have a knowledge and understanding of legal concepts, because they perform a wide variety of tasks including: conducting interviews with clients and witnesses, gathering facts, researching the law, managing databases, reviewing, analyzing and assembling records and documents, and drafting legal pleadings and discovery items such as complaints and interrogatories and maintaining conflicts of interest systems. Experienced paralegals often accompany counsel during trial and help with document management and organization, witness preparation and research. Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law.

Eight, three-semester hour courses are required to earn the certificate. The post-baccalaureate program is a non-credit certificate program. Students must have completed their bachelor’s degree before starting classes in order to be eligible for this program.

The Master of Arts in Performing Arts Administration is designed to hone the skills of current and aspiring administrators and to cultivate the next generation of great professionals within the field. Students in this selective program will take a broad range of courses in the areas of marketing, public relations, finance, development, technology, community engagement and more. Course work is taught by current and former senior administrators of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and League of American Orchestras, among others, all of whom have firsthand knowledge and experience in the field.

The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program at Roosevelt University is designed to prepare pharmacists to work in a variety of health care settings. Reading, MA

At the heart of our nationally recognized Reading program is a commitment to teaching all learners to read, write, and speak with passion, curiosity, precision, and confidence.

The Master of Arts in Reading (READ) prepares licensed teachers to become effective and democratic leaders in language and literacy learning. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add either the reading specialist, reading teacher, or bilingual/ESL endorsement to their Illinois teaching licenses.

Real Estate, MSRE

Advance your commercial real estate career or enter the profession with the Roosevelt University Masters in Real Estate program. The real estate masters degree program is designed for those seeking to either enter or enhance careers in the Real Estate profession.  It is a specialized degree tailored to enhance a student's knowledge of the industry with a more expanded number of real estate courses versus the MBA program (seven versus four real estate courses).  The curriculum provides the academic and practical knowledge necessary to achieve success in real estate development, management, finance, research, and project planning.

School Counseling, MA

The Master's in School Counseling (SC) program prepares counselor candidates to support and advocate on behalf of the learning and social-emotional needs of children and adolescents in K-12 schools. The intensive, field-based MA in school counseling curriculum prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse students and families. The program leads to an Illinois school counselor credential.

Secondary Education (Dual Degree Program in Math/Business), MA

The Dual Degree Program in Math/Business and Secondary Education is designed for undergraduates who wish to become secondary teachers in mathematics or business. Students earn a BA degree in four years in math or business and then earn an MA degree in secondary education in a fifth year. Students who successfully complete the dual degree program earn a State of Illinois teaching license with an endorsement in math or business, grades 9-12.

The MA in Secondary Education (SEED) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of adolescents in grades 9 through 12. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families in the subject areas of biology, business, chemistry, English, history, and math. It provides opportunities to earn a combination of Illinois teaching credentials prior to the completion of the MA degree, including the middle school endorsement.

Second Language Special Education, MA

The Master of Arts in Second Language Special Education (SLSE) prepares licensed teachers to effectively instruct English Language Learners and students with special needs. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add both the Bilingual/ESL and LBS1 endorsements to their Illinois teaching licenses.

The MA in Special Education (SPED) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children and adolescents with learning disabilities, intellectual disability, severe emotional and behavior disorders, and other disabilities. This intensive, field-based program preparesevery candidate to work democratically at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. It leads to the Illinois LBS1 teaching credential.

Teaching and Learning, MA

The Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning (TLRN) prepares licensed teachers to become more effective and democratic classroom instructors and leaders. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add an endorsement to their Illinois teaching license and they will have a deeper understanding of the expectations embedded in the Danielson Framework for Teaching and other teacher evaluation frameworks.

Theatre Directing, MA

Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, CCPA is just steps away from Chicago's bustling theatre district and the Tony award-winning Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Lookingglass Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre — and our students have graced the stages of them all. An outstanding internship program provides CCPA's students with placements at some of Chicago's best theatres, and upperclassmen in good standing are allowed to audition for productions outside of CCPA, adding valuable professional credits to their resumes prior to graduation.

The MA in Directing is a summer adult degree completion program for current teachers and theatre directors. This program is not intended for recent graduates looking to become directors.

Training and Development, MATD

The master's in Training and Development program prepares tomorrow’s leaders in the growing field of workplace learning and performance. Our students develop a highly marketable skill set and are prepared to take an integral role in reshaping tomorrow’s workforce. The CCPA voice program provides a nurturing environment to develop young artists, led by world-class artist-teachers. All students in our program study privately with their applied teacher for the duration of their degree program, and starting in the sophomore year also have a weekly private lesson with our vocal coaches.
