Recognized for her teaching in the field of Musical Theater and Popular music for the voice, Rebecca Simone Schorsch was named one of the "Best of Chicago (Chicago Magazine, 2008). A highly sought-after teacher in Musical Theater voice, her students sing on Broadway, London's West End, Chicago and regional stages, national tours, opera houses, and the recording industry. In addition to teaching at CCPA, Ms. Schorsch is also on faculty at the Up North Vocal Institute in Boyne, Michigan, a summer training program for young opera singers. She is a frequent master class presenter for Musical Theater and has guest taught at the University of Colorado-Boulder, Wheaton College, Loyola University, Southern Methodist University, University of Chicago, Source Song Festival in Minneapolis, the Royal College of Musica and Drama in Cardiff, Wales U.K., and the Royal Acadmey of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, U.K. She is a coach on stagelighter. com and is a member of the National Association of the Teachers of Singing (Vice-Presdient of the Chicago Chapter), the Voice Foundations, and Musical Theater Educator's Alliance International.
As a singer herself, Ms. Schorsch has appeared extensively as a concert soloist in both classical and musical theater repertoire in the Chicago area and beyond with the Illinois Philharmonic, Bach and Beyond Festival, West Suburban Symphony, Nothwest Symphony, Salt Creek Symphony, Access Contemporary Music and the Chicago Civic Orchestra, among others. She has been frequently heard live on WFMT Chicago in solo recital. Regarded to her conviction to text in performance, and her involvement in the Chicago classical music community, Time Out Chicago called Ms. Schorsch "gutsy....a Chicago favorite"
