Greetings! I am Dr. John K Nino. I am originally from the great state of California (the 'golden' state), although I have lived most of my life here in Illinois.
Over the past few years, I have worked with patients with rheumatologic disease. My research interests are in the area of sarcoidosis from which I have produced several publications.
I received my Doctorate in Medicine from Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. Prior to medical school, I worked as a microbiologist in both the clinical and industrial settings. The work was interesting, but it lacked personal interaction and so I sought to expand myself by pursuing a career in medicine.
In addition to research and patient care, I worked as a professional tutor for the Huntington Learning Center, for a local community college, and I privately tutored undergraduates and graduate students seeking help with coursework, pre-professional and licensing exams.
Seeing their turnaround was a hugely rewarding experience and so geared my interest towards academic medicine. I have since explored that interest as a professor of the health sciences at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Working with these bright, motivated junior colleagues of mine and sharing my experiences with them has been as rewarding for me has working with patients.
When I’m not busy in the classroom or clinic, I enjoy creating pencil portraits, meeting fitness goals, and visiting new restaurants in the city.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Please feel free to send me an email or telephone call should you ever have any questions or if I can help in any way.
