About Me

Principal Harpist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Marguerite Lynn Williams has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. She has won numerous national competitions including twice the American Harp Society's national competition and Anne Adams Awards. She has appeared as a featured performer and lecturer at American Harp Society conventions and the World Harp Congress in Vancouver as well as served as judge for both the American Harp Society and Young Artist's Harp Competitions.

An experienced orchestra musician, Ms. Williams has appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and Toronto Symphony. She performed as substitute Principal Harp for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra during the 2008-2009 season. Previously she was Principal Harp of the New World Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, New Philharmonic Orchestra (Glyn Ellen, IL), DuPage Opera Orchestra, and Colorado Music Festival. Ms. Williams is a founding member of the Chicago Harp Quartet, International Chamber Artists, Project Copernicus, and Lyrica Trio.

Marguerite Lynn Williams attended the Eastman School of Music where she received both a Bachelor of Music degree and Performer's Certificate studying with Kathleen Bride. She then attended Roosevelt University to study with Sarah Bullen, where she received a Master's Degree in Orchestral Studies. Since its founding in 2010, Ms. Williams has been Director of the Chicago Harp Ensemble. Along with being a passionate pedagogue, she is an avid arranger of harp music including two volumes of harp ensemble music published by Lyon & Healy as well as nearly 100 other arrangements and original compositions available through her publishing house Harp Press.
