Dan Cooney comes to Roosevelt University as an accomplished actor, teacher, artistic director and director. He was an original Broadway company member of Bonnie and Clyde and 9 to 5 (Dick), appeared in Mamma Mia (Bill) and Les Misérables on Broadway, and was in the original Off Broadway company of Heathers the Musical. He toured nationally in Evita (Ché), The Civil War and Fiddler on The Roof (Perchik) starring Theodore Bikel. Regional theatre appearances include performances at Yale Rep, The Signature (World Premiere of Nevermore, Poe), Paper Mill Playhouse, La Jolla Playhouse, Ahmanson Theatre and many others. Major network television credits include Kevin Can Wait (Chad), Elementary (Cliff Brown),The Americans and The Following.
Cooney is a founding partner and the Artistic Director of The Encore Musical Theatre Company in Dexter, Michigan, where both productions and his direction have received critical acclaim. In addition to his extensive directing and performing credits, Cooney has served as a professor of musical theatre at New York University and as a guest instructor at Pace University, Texas State, and The International Theatre Academy Norway (TITAN). Cooney is a 1999 graduate of The Yale School of Drama.
