Online Tutoring

A real time conversation about your writing. With on-line tutoring, you can be tutored from your home computer and hours are flexible. Email us at writingcenter@roosevelt.edu to set up your on-line writing center appointment.
On-line tutoring begins Monday, Sept. 24.

If you already have instant messaging software….

  • Email the tutor that you have been assigned both your newly acquired Yahoo screen-name and a copy of the draft that you want to review with the tutor.  However, before sending in a copy of the draft, number each page and each paragraph of the paper so that when you are working with the tutor both he/she and you may more quickly be able to locate specific passages of interest.
  • At the agreed-upon time, load your instant messaging software and wait for the tutor to make contact with you.  When this occurs, a pop-up message will appear asking you to authorize communication between you and the tutor.  Authorize communication and the tutoring session will begin from there.
  • If you have any questions or problems, email joshua.reese@mymail.roosevelt.edu

You should email the following to your tutor:

    • Name of your IM protocol and your screen name
    • A copy of your draft with each page and each paragraph numbered
    • The Online Tutor Conference Form that you received from your tutor
    • Times you would be available for tutoring

If you do not already have instant messaging software….

Now that you have the software and are registered….

  • Email the tutor that you have been assigned both your newly acquired Yahoo screen-name and a copy of the draft that you want to review with the tutor.  However, before sending in a copy of the draft, you must number each page and each paragraph of the paper so that when you are working with the tutor both he/she and you may more quickly be able to locate specific passages of interest.
