One University Two Campuses

Founded in 1945, Roosevelt University built its excellent reputation by bringing the finest education to students when and where they needed it.  For most Roosevelt students, that meant day or evening classes at the University's famed location on Michigan Avenue in the Chicago Loop.

Several years ago, however, Roosevelt recognized a need in the Chicago suburbs and opened a second campus in Schaumburg.

Today, Roosevelt students enjoy the best of both worlds.

Character: Founded in 1945, Roosevelt University is named for both Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. An independent, nonsectarian institution, Roosevelt is committed to academic excellence and social responsibility.

Locations: Two locations in downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue and in the northwest suburb of Schaumburg, as well as at various corporations throughout the region.

Enrollment: 7,300 men and women, including 4,350 undergraduate students.

Students: 63 percent women, nearly 10 percent international; 37 percent Black, Hispanic, or Asian; ages range from 18 to 70; most are employed part-time or full-time.

Faculty: 168 full-time and 360 part-time faculty members, 75 percent of whom hold Ph.D.s or equivalent degrees.

Student-to-Faculty Ratio: 16-to-1

Academic Programs: More than 60 undergraduate majors and pre-professional programs, 40 master’s degree programs, and two doctoral programs.

Accreditation: North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. National Association of Schools of Music, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, American Chemical Society, and other accredited organizations.

Recognition: Roosevelt ranks among the top 5 percent of 867 private, non-Ph.D.-granting institutions for the number of graduates who go on to earn their doctorates from other colleges and universities.

Calendar: Two semesters, each 16 weeks in length. Three summer terms (6, 8, or 12 weeks in length) are offered, as well as condensed one week and five Friday options.

Costs: Our tuition is one of the lowest in the area at $11,568* for full-time (12 s.h.) per academic year, undergraduate study. Room and board averages $6,070 per academic year.

*Tuition for 2002-2003 academic year.

Financial Assistance: Approximately 75 percent of Roosevelt students receive assistance in the form of grants, Roosevelt University scholarships, work-study opportunities, tuition reimbursement and loans.

Roosevelt University does not discriminate on the basis of age, race,
color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, handicap or disability in its programs and activities.
