 Teachers!
Request internships, free hospitality business visits (field trips),
mentoring, and job shadowing experiences. (Go )
The
hospitality industry is one of the premiere emerging industries in
the U.S. With any rapidly growing industry, the job market in that
field is getting more competitive by the minute. Students should consider
careers in the field of hospitality and know that university schools
of hospitality offer generous scholarships and internships to qualified
students. Business visits and
job-shadowing days are the best
way to observe the day-to-day realities of a career. At the same time
students get a feel of their personal likes and dislikes
in a work environment. A great way to get this essential exposure
is an internship
or career mentorship.
Students learn from top-notch professionals while fulfilling high
school requirements. Teachers are encouraged to submit
a request form to get connected with hospitality and tourism
companies for activities such as business visits, job shadowing, internships
and career mentorships. Brief Tip Sheets suggest how to prepare and
follow-up for the each activity. At the bottom of the Tip Sheets are
links to related worksheets for the activities.
