Campus Closing Procedures When extreme weather conditions or a campus emergency develops at either campus, a decision to close or alter campus operations is authorized by the Provost and the Schaumburg Campus Executive Officer (CEO). If possible, closure information will be posted on the University home page and the intercampus e-mail system. The Emergency Closing Center is a regional service used to place closing notices on the following radio and television stations:
Announcements are usually posted by 7:00 a.m. or within an hour of our notification to the service. At the Chicago campus, a recorded message regarding campus closings can be heard by dialing 312-341-3500. At the Schaumburg campus, the campus automated phone system can be accessed by dialing 847-619-7300. Please follow the prompts and press the star key (*) for a menu choice of 1) campus closing announcement, 2) canceled class list, or 3) information regarding which staff should report to work. The phone systems are under the direct control of the University and are updated as soon as the decision is made, usually by 6:00 a.m. In any case, if the weather is questionable, please call before you travel to campus. There may be occasions where one campus of Roosevelt University is open and others are not. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to exercise caution as road and travel conditions can vary widely within the metropolitan area. |
