Frequently Asked Questions Parents Does Roosevelt have a medical/health center available for students if they become sick? Roosevelt does not have a medical/health center. Students are strongly encouraged to locate a physician prior to or immediately after checking into their room. How do I send letters/packages to my son/daughter? Residents will receive a mailbox number the day of check-in. Residence Life accepts no responsibility for lost packages and cannot receive packages or boxes from students prior to check-in. How can I contact my son/daughter if I don’t have a phone number? Residents will receive their two phone extensions the day of check-in. It is their responsibility to inform parents, family and friends of their number. Under the FERPA law, Residence Life cannot release any resident information nor confirm their residency in the residence hall. Do you have guest rooms for parents/family? Guest suites are available at University Center at 525 S. State St. Located near the Chicago Campus, University Center offers fully furnished studio suites for families, friends and other campus visitors for $119 per night. A two night minimum is required and additional charges may apply for more than one guest. Guests have access to the University Center fitness center, dining center, Great Room and terrace. To make a reservation, please call 312-924-8092. Where do we unload and park the car? Students may unload their belongings in the HCC lobby located on Wabash Street. The Office of Residence Life strongly encourages one person stay with the car at all times because of the strict parking regulations enforced by the City of Chicago. Parking facilities are located on all sides of the University. Roosevelt University parking discount rates may beavailable at the Auditorium Theatre Parking Garage on the corner of Congress and Wabash. Students Can I have a single room? Students must request in writing to have a single room. Because of the limited number of rooms available, priority is given on a seniority basis. Can I change rooms? Requests to change rooms are considered two weeks into the semester. Prior to a change, residents will need to have met with their RA and a Resident Assistant Coordinator (RAC). All requests must be in writing. Do I need to notify Residence Life if my credit hours drop below full-time status? Yes, students will need to notify the Office of Residence Life immediately if their credit hours fall below full-time status. Do I need to re-apply each year? Yes, Application/contract forms are available online and at the Office of Residence Life. A $500 pre-payment is required with the application/contract. If students are not planning on returning to the HCC for the upcoming academic year, they must complete the HCC Cancellation Form and return it to the Office of Residence Life by May 1st. Can I request a different or the same room for next year? Students will be able to request a different room or request to keep their current room for the following academic year when they complete and submit a new application/contract and a $500 pre-payment for the new academic year. Every effort is made to honor all requests. |
