Campus Emergencies

Use the following phone numbers from any university house phone at any campus. You can also dial 911 from any public telephone (free call).

Security

  • Auditorium Building/Herman Crown Center – extension 2020
  • Center for Professional Advancement – extension 3111
  • Schaumburg Campus – extension 8989

The University is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment. Call Security when an immediate response is required or if you observe an assault, theft, loitering, suspicious behavior or packages, or flooding. All students and employees are encouraged to immediately report anything which may affect security to the Security offices. This includes lost keys, defective locks, and broken windows. Give the location and a description of the problem. There are Security Desks in the Michigan Avenue lobby of the Auditorium Building, the Wabash Avenue lobby of the Herman Crown Center and in Room 221 of the Center for Professional Advancement. The Security Office at the Schaumburg Campus is Room 102. The designated representative for workplace violence is Robert Fitzpatrick, Director of Campus Safety and Security, 312-341-3774.

Fire

  • Auditorium Building/Herman Crown Center – extension 3777
  • Center for Professional Advancement – extension 3111
  • Schaumburg Campus – extension 8989

In case of fire, pull the nearest fire alarm and then call the fire emergency number. Give your name and location, and follow instructions. Whenever an alarm is sounded, leave the building immediately using the nearest stairs or the closest door, assist in evacuating any persons with disabilities in the vicinity, and close doors behind you. Do not telephone to ask if you should leave. Follow all instructions given by the University’s designated fire wardens or evacuation team leaders.

Medical

If life-threatening – call 9-911 from any campus house phone or 911 from any public phone. Call immediately. Fire department paramedics will respond. Institute first-aid measures if possible.
