Residence Life

Student Services

Welcome To The Parent Res Life Page!

Thank you very much for visiting us and taking time to read through our information. We welcome your involvement in your student's education and invite you to contact Residence Life directly should you have any questions or concerns.

What We Want You To Know....

  • Continuing students need to be registered full time and submit a $500 pre-payment and housing contract to receive a room assignment.
  • UC is new freshmen housing and ROW houses our new transfers, new graduates and continuing students.
  • All students should submit their FAFSA as soon as possible!  We believe that it's important for you to talk with your student about financial expectations and stay current with your student's account.
  • Please visit RU's Parent website for more information about what's happening at the university and helpful information for parents.
  • Res Life housing assignments are fluid and I may be able to accommodate a room change later in the fall semester.
  • Housing Assignments are sent via email on the following dates:
    • Wednesday, July 20 - Students living in UC
    • Friday, July 17 - Students living on floors 15-18 in ROW
    • Friday, July 25 - Students who are assigned a ESTS or ESTP rate. The date may be delayed.

What Parents Typically Ask Us....

  1. Dates & Deadlines - Great page to see move-in, room assignments, policies, and other key information
  2. Room & Board Rates - The second bullet point breaks down the rates
  3. Will I get billed separately for housing and meals? Paper bills are not sent through the mail but bills can be viewed through a student's RU Access account. Housing and meal charges are on the same bill as tuition.
  4. Why did my student not get his/her first room or roommate preference? These are typical reasons why we may not have been able to accommodate room or roommate assignment requests:
    • Requested roommate did not apply and/or submit a $500 pre-payment
    • Requested roommate did not request to live with your student
    • Requested roommate canceled his/her housing contract
    • Requested roommate applied after rooms had been assigned and I was not able to make any changes
    • Requested roommate requested a specific type of room (like studio or private) and based on when his/her application & pre-payment was received, we were not able to accommodate him/her in the specific room/room type
    • Requested roommate (if a current RU student) did not participate in Room Request Days and was assigned in order his/her application & pre-payment was received
    • Requested roommate (if current RU student) did not register for fall classes or full time status
