Jon B. DeVries, Director Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate

For the fall, 2009 semester, we have a record entering class of 39 new students bringing our current enrollment to 78.  Due to our four major scholarship initiatives - The Joseph and Joyce Freed Initiative, the Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Women Leaders program, the IJN Scholarship, and the Roldan Initiative – we were able to award a record $130,000 of scholarships to 18 new students and 10 returning students this fall.  The Urban Retail Professional Development Center is completing its first year of operation hosting training classes, events and library resources.  Dr. John McDonald has been appointed as the Distinguished Fogelson Chair and Dr. Sofia Dermisi has been appointed as the Distinguished Pasquinelli Family Chair.

The Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Forum and the Gerald Fogelson Forums on October 7th attracted record attendance and featured panels on legal opportunities for women in real estate and the current foreclosure crisis respectively. The Eighth Real Estate Gala on October 28th attracted nearly 350 attendees.

To assist our students and alumni in these challenging times, we have created a new electronic resume book available on this website.  Please consult this resume book and forward to others who might be seeking to fill positions in the industry.

On December 8, 2009 we will be dedicating the new Pasquinelli Family Heritage Room honoring our donors and providing a new corporate quality meeting and gathering space in the Institute.  You can stay posted on these and other current events on this web site or by calling Latosha McKinney at 312-281-3269.

Regards,

Jon B. DeVries, Director
