From the Director’s Desk - Summer/Fall 2007 Jon B. DeVries, Director We are in the midst of our fifth academic year and are pleased to have graduated twenty-five students with both their MBA in Real Estate and Masters of Science in Real Estate degrees for the 2006-2007 school year. Registration is currently underway for the Fall, 2007 semester. South Michigan Avenue, the research Center will embody the latest in real estate industry research and training resources.
The purpose of the Center is to provide on-site resources for faculty, students and professionals associated with the program to undertake research, utilize on-line real estate data resources and use as a study facility. The Center will also provide professional development services to students and recruitment services to the industry, particularly the Advisory Board.
Recent News at the School The Fogelson Forum: We are planning the seventh year of the Fogelson Forum series. The upcoming speakers and dates will be posted shortly. Over 200 attended our November 16, 2006 panel discussion on The Millennium Park impact on Real Estate Development. Speakers included Louis D’Angelo, Metropolitan Properties of Chicago; Ty Tabing, Chicago Loop Alliance; and Richard Hanson, Mesa Development, LLC. Homebuilders Regional Planning Forum: The Institute hosted its second forum discussing major issues with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and its proposed legislation, Senate Bill 1201. Speakers included: Randy Blakenhorn, CMAP; Anthony Pasquinelli, Pasquinelli Construction; Peter Schwartz, Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago; Gordon Smith, CMAP; and Paul Colgan with the Attainable Housing Alliance. About forty local homebuilders attended the luncheon forum held at Roosevelt University’s Schaumburg campus on July 17, 2007. Coming soon to a calendar near you! Students, if you are new to the program, or haven’t participated with us yet, don’t overlook the opportunities to meet your peers, network, gain valuable experience and more by attending Real Estate Club meetings this fall.
