The Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Chicago School of Real Estate | Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate Walter E. Heller College of Business Administration A lecture series designed to support and promote women aspiring to leadership roles in the real estate industry launched by the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University. The program called "Women Leaders in Real Estate Initiative" was founded and is being underwritten by the Jack and Goldie Wolfe Miller Fund. Goldie Wolfe Miller Event: October 7, 2009 at the Palmer House Hilton - Empire Room On October 7 more than 150 real estate industry professionals gathered at the third annual Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Women Leaders in Real Estate Initiative luncheon to learn about the key topics and trends affecting the industry from three national women leaders in real estate law. The panel presentation was titled Surviving and Thriving in the Post-Recession Real Estate and Financial Legal Landscape. Participants were Virginia Aronson, managing partner, Sidley Austin, LLP Chicago; Nina Matis, partner and national co-chair, KattenMuchinRosenman’s Real Estate Practice New York and Linda D. White, partner and chair of finance committee, Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP. Celeste M. Hammond, professor and director, Center for Real Estate Law, John Marshall Law School, served as moderator. The group discussed how the recession is reshaping the role of government and the legal framework for both the financial and the real estate sectors as well as the opportunities created for women as the economy recovers. The luncheon was the first in a series of three during the 2009/10 academic year that is sponsored by the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University and underwritten by Goldie Wolfe Miller. Goldie Wolfe Miller Scholar / Mentor Breakfast September 23,2009 On September 23, 2009 the Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Women Leaders in Real Estate Initiative kicked off its Scholar/Mentor Program for the 2009-2010 academic year with the Scholar/Mentor Breakfast. The Goldie B.Wolfe Miller Mentor Program is designed to help the Goldie Scholars, who were all selected based on their great potential for success, prepare themselves for leadership roles within the industry. The Goldie Mentors are a remarkable group of successful, executive level women from the Chicago real estate community. Through the Mentor/Mentee relationship, the Goldie Scholars are given opportunities and guidance in the development and enhancement of professional and personal skills that complement their academic studies and serve as a valuable resource as they embark on a new phase of their careers.
