The Teresa and Hipolito Roldan Scholarship Program

For Tomorrow's Hispanic Leaders in

Community Development and Real Estate
School of Real Estate | Walter E. Heller College of Business Administration

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Teresa and Hipolito Roldan Scholarship Program for Tomorrow's Hispanic Leaders in Community Development and Real Estate has been established through The Chicago Community Trust to provide scholarships for students in the Chicago School of Real Estate at Roosevelt University.  The scholarship program will provide financial assistance of $5,000 per student per year for up to two school years in order to complete the graduate real estate degree program; as long as the student meets all the requirements of the program.

The scholarship program will give preference to candidates from a Latino heritage particularly those who have demonstrated service to their community.

This scholarship program is designed to give opportunities to students by combining academic training with "hands on" experience in community development and real estate.  Students will obtain either of two Walter E. Heller College of Business Administration graduate degrees: MBA - Concentration in Real Estate or the Master of Science in Real Estate.

The program is tailored to complement the pioneering work Mr. “Paul” Hipolito Roldan, President, Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, has accomplished over the past 30 years and to honor his parents, Teresa and Hipolito Rolda

MENTORSHIP

All students will be assigned a mentor by the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation to provide shadowing opportunities, attendance at professional events, community organization experience and participation in “hands-on” decision-making.

INTERNSHIPS

For students who wish, semester and/or summer internships will be arranged through Hispanic Housing Development Corporation.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Each scholarship recipient will be invited to attend without cost all the public programs of the Marshall Bennett Institute including the Fogelson Forum, the Homebuilders Forum, the Real Estate Club, the Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Forum and others as they are held. This will provide an opportunity for the recipients to network with professionals in the industry and students as well as hear and meet experienced industry speakers.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Two levels of financial assistance will be available: 1) the scholarship of $5,000 to be provided by the Fund with each student being eligible for up to two years of assistance to complete the degree; and 2) Financial assistance (loans and/or grants) provided as needed by the university's existing financial aid process for those students demonstrating additional financial need.
