Tanweer Hasan Biography

Tanweer Hasan is the Associate Provost (Planning & Budget) at Roosevelt University (RU) in Chicago & Schaumburg, Illinois.  Prior to his current appointment Tanweer served as a tenured full professor at the W. E. Heller College of Business of RU and held the F. S. Addy Professorship in finance.  He also served as the Associate Dean & Director of the MBA Program at the Heller College of Business in 1997-1998.

Tanweer did his undergraduate work (Finance, 1986) from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.  Later Tanweer obtained MBA (Finance, 1989) and PhD (Finance, 1993) degrees from Baylor University and the University of Houston, respectively.

Tanweer has received numerous recognitions for excellence in teaching over the years at different academic institutions that include RU Excellence in Teaching Award (Roosevelt University) and Carter Award for Excellence in Teaching (University of Houston).  Tanweer has published over 30 scholarly articles in reputed academic/professional journals and made over 40 professional presentations in twenty different countries spread over six continents.  Dr. Hasan serves on the editorial board of three academic journals: African Finance Journal, Studies in Economics and Finance, and Journal of Business in Developing Nations.  Professor Hasan has recently put together a special issue of Managerial Finance (Emerald, UK, with circulation in 27 countries) on Microfinance Institutions as a guest editor (forthcoming in 2008).  He had also served on the editorial board of International Quarterly Journal of Finance in the past.  Tanweer is active in corporate outreach/consulting and has organized seminars/workshops for large pubic companies and development agencies like the CNH Global, Northern Trust Corporation, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, US AID, etc.

Tanweer is married to Dr. Naheed Rouf Hasan, an Associate Professor of Psychology at the College of DuPage, IL and has two wonderful children, Neal and Rhea.
