Parent Day

Roosevelt University hosts "Parent Day" each fall at the Chicago Campus. The day includes social opportunities with faculty and staff, workshops and events on campus and in the neighborhood. Information about Parent Day 2008 will be available in July 2008.

Below is the schedule of events from Parent Day 2007 held on October 13.

9-10:30 a.m.               
Parent Day Registration
Lobby, Auditorium Building

9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.                   
Roosevelt University Bookstore Open
Wabash Entrance, Auditorium Building

9:30-10:30 a.m.                      
President’s Coffee & University Welcome  
Ganz Hall, Auditorium Building
Begin your day with refreshments and greetings from Roosevelt University President Charles Middleton.  Enjoy live music performed by students in the Chicago College of Performing Arts. 

10:30-11:15 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Parent Interest Sessions
Auditorium Building
Roosevelt faculty and staff members will share insights and help you learn more about Roosevelt.  Session topics include:
- The Career Development Process
- All You Want to Know About Study Abroad
- Transitions to College Life for You and Your Adult Child
- A Conversation with CCPA: Music & Theatre
- Zooming Down Super Information Highways
- and more!

12:30-1:30 p.m.
Lunch
University Center
Enjoy a complimentary buffet lunch and conversations with Roosevelt faculty and staff members.

Explore Chicago Activities
Enjoy sightseeing in the city with one of these group activities or venture out on your own:

Auditorium Theatre Tours
1:30 p.m. & 2:45 p.m.
Lobby, Auditorium Theatre
Get a behind the scenes tour of Roosevelt’s beautiful and historic Auditorium Theatre.  The tour is free but space is limited.

Chicago Architecture Foundation Boat Cruise
3-4:30 p.m.
See the city from a completely different angle and learn about Chicago’s rich architectural history.  Cost is $25 per person.

Dinner on Your Own
A list of faculty and staff restaurant suggestions will be available when you check in for Parent Day.  The Chicago Tribune’s Metromix website at www.metromix.com is a great source for restaurant information.

Evening Entertainment
Chicago College of Performing Arts presents: An Unkindness of Ravens (from the Writings of Edgar Allen Poe)
7:30 p.m.
O’Malley Theatre, Auditorium Building
Some of Poe’s most powerful works, including the lyrical poem Annabel Lee and the classics of horror The Mask of the Red Death and The Cask of Amontillado will be included in this stage adaptation. With his themes of jealousy, revenge and murder, Poe created dramatic images that continue to haunt the imagination with their intensity and originality.  Adapted and directed by Joel G. Fink with music and sound score by Richard Thomas.  A limited number of complimentary seats are available for Roosevelt parents.
