Welcome New Parents! If you are a parent of a new student starting in fall of 2009, welcome to Roosevelt! We're excited that your student will be joining the campus community. Please click here to sign up for the parent mailing list so we can keep you updated on the university. Be sure to join us for an orientation program this summer:
Save the Date Parent Day will be Saturday, October 17 at the Chicago Campus. Check back for more information about this annual event for RU parents. Student Health Insurance for Students Living On Campus All students living in the Chicago Campus residence halls as well as all F1 and J1 international students are required to have student health insurance: either Roosevelt's student health plan or an equivalent plan that can be used in Chicago. We require students living on campus to have insurance in case of accident, illness or injury. If your student is living on campus, you will find a charge of $2336 on your student account for student health insurance. This is the cost for an annual premium for Roosevelt's student insurance plan with Aetna Student Health. Many students already have coverage on their own or through parents, family, employers and other sources. If this is your situation, you can waive coverage because you already have health insurance as long as your plan is comparable to the Roosevelt plan. Your insurance must be valid for the academic year, able to be used to see a doctor or be admitted to a hospital in the Chicago area, and provided by a company with a US claims address. You have two choices: 1) Enroll on Aetna's website and pay for insurance on your student’s Roosevelt student account. Later in the summer, students will log onto Aetna’s website and officially enroll in the plan. 2) Waive coverage because your student has sufficient health insurance. Later in the summer, students will log onto Aetna’s website and complete an online waiver. The waiver process takes less than five minutes and the waiver form will ask information about your insurance plan. Students will be notified by email when the enroll/waive website is active later in the summer. Information will also be posted at www.roosevelt.edu/shi If you do not take any action by September 21, 2009, you will be automatically enrolled and the $2336 premium will remain on your student account. If you have questions about student health insurance or the waiver process, please contact the Office of Student Services at 312-341-2004.
