Did You Know?

Roosevelt has a free shuttle service from the CTA Blue Line-Rosemont Station to the Schaumburg Campus during the fall, spring and summer terms. Students can use the service for travel to and from the Schaumburg Campus (Chicago students can also use it for shopping at Woodfield Mall and IKEA, and Schaumburg students can use it to travel downtown to enjoy the city).  Click here for more information.

 

Roosevelt has a cell phone text-messaging service that will keep students informed in the event of a University emergency.  Encourage your student to sign up. Click here for information and to sign up.

 

Roosevelt has a variety of study abroad programs for students.  Studying in another country is an excellent opportunity to gain new perspectives, meet new people and explore the world.

Roosevelt Announces New College of Pharmacy

Roosevelt University has announced that it is creating a College of Pharmacy at the Schaumburg Campus and has appointed Dr. George E. MacKinnon III, a pharmacy administrator and educator with 20 years of experience, as founding dean.  More information >>

Roosevelt Review Now Available

The Summer 2009 edition of the Roosevelt Review is available online.  The Roosevelt Review is the university's magazine for alumni and friends of the university.  It includes feature stories, alumni updates and highlights of campus events.  Click here to read the new issue.

 

Roosevelt Announces New Sports Hospitality Degree

The Chicago Sun-Times recently featured an announcement about Roosevelt's new program in professional sports hospitality management.  Roosevelt will be the first university in the country to offer such a program.   More information >>

Hands Together, Heart to Art Camp Underway

Hands Together, Heart to Art is a summer day camp for children ages 7-14 who have experienced the death of a parent.  The camp is hosted by the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University and was founded by the Theatre's Executive Director, Brett Batterson.  Brett unexpectedly lost his father to a heart attack when he was seven years old.  He created this camp to help other children discover the healing power of creative play, to find others who have experienced a similar loss, to have access to qualified counselors and listen to the stories of successful adults who lost a parent as a child.  Brett recently received an award from State Farm Insurance for his work with the camp.    More information >>

Fall Payments Due July 31

Payments and payment arrangements for fall 2009 semester tuition, fees, room and board are due by July 31.  Students access their "E-bill" by logging into RU Access.

Save the Date: Parent Day is October 17

Roosevelt's annual Parent Day is Saturday, October 17 at the Chicago Campus.  Click here for more information.  Registration will be available at the start of the academic year.

Athletics Return to Roosevelt

At a press conference and reception held in May, President Charles Middleton announced the reinstatement of intercollegiate athletics. Michael Cassidy (above right), has been appointed to the position of Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and will be responsible for re-establishing the program.  Roosevelt's athletics program was recently featured in the New York TimesClick here to read the article.


Annual Pride Parade

Roosevelt was proud to have its largest group of volunteers ever for the 40th annual Chicago Pride Parade on June 28. Over 60 students, faculty, staff, family and friends joined President Charles Middleton and Provost and Executive Vice President James Gandre on the parade route.

Enlightenment Project Donation

The Center for Campus Life at the Schaumburg Campus was proud to present a check for $5000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Illinois as a result of The Enlightenment Project. The year-long project focused on raising student interest in community involvement by emphasizing the importance of volunteering with non-profit organizations. Pictured here are a representative from the Make A Wish Foundation, student Danielle Medine, CCL community engagement coordinator and student Kenny Donat, CCL program director.
