Faculty and studentsLeadership Development at Roosevelt (LDR)
Office of Student Activities

The LDR Program consists of two tracks for leadership development. Participants may choose one of the following tracks:

1) The LEAD Program for professional leadership development
2) The Institute for comprehensive student leadership development

The LEAD Program (Leaders Evolving and Developing) is the leadership development workshop series coordinated by the Office of Student Activities. The program is designed for students of all ages and experiences to enhance personal, professional and interpersonal skills. A variety of workshops, presentations and programs are offered throughout the year FREE for students. The Professional Leadership Development Certificate track applies leadership theory, principles and practice to leadership positions in a professional setting or for future employment endeavors. Requirements of completion: After completing a total of eight (8) workshops throughout the year, participants will become a graduate of the LEAD Program in Professional Leadership Development and be honored at the Student Leadership Awards program in April.

In-sti-tute (in’ste toot): 1) an organization for the promotion of art, science, education, etc., 2) an institution for the advanced study, research, and instruction in a restricted field, 3) a short teaching program established for a group concerned with some special field of work.

The Institute is a comprehensive leadership program consisting of three components: skill building through the LEAD Program, experiential learning through the Experiential Learning Program, and service through the Service in our Communities Program. Requirements of completion: Throughout the year, participants must complete four (4) LEAD Programs, four (4) Experiential Learning Programs, and two (2) Service in our Communities Programs. Participants who complete all three requirements will become a graduate of the LDR Institute and be honored at the Student Leadership Awards program in April.
