Using the Facility

Students: Bring your Roosevelt, Columbia, or HCC ID (with validation stickers for current semester).
Faculty and Staff: Bring your Roosevelt or Columbia faculty and staff ID.
Alumni: Bring your valid alumni card and a valid state ID or driver's license.

  • Sign in at the front desk, logging the date and time that you enter. You must also sign out when you leave the facility. You must leave your ID card with the desk attendant.
  • All patrons of the MMSC must wear proper attire. Tops, bottoms, and close-toed shoes are to be worn by all patrons.
  • Patrons may have one guest accompany them in the facility. The guest must be at least 18 years of age, and have a current driver’s license or state ID. Patrons must accompany their guests at all times, and guests must complete a guest registration form for each visit. Patrons are responsible for their guest’s behavior at all times.

Locker Reservations - A limited number of lockers are available for MMSC patrons to use each semester, located within the men’s and women’s locker rooms within the MMSC. Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Lockers are cleaned out at the end of each semester, and the contents are saved for a limited time. Daily use lockers are also available for patrons. Ask the MMSC staff for more information about lockers. RU is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Locker reservations will not be taken over the phone.

Holiday Hours of Operation -The MMSC is closed on all official Roosevelt University holidays. Facility hours are also shortened during final exams, between academic semesters, and during the summer. Hours are posted in the facility.

Equipment and Game Rentals - All patrons with a valid ID may check out equipment at the front desk. Guests may not check out equipment. RU is not responsible for personal equipment left in the MMSC facility.

Food and Drink - No food or drink is allowed outside of the game room. Exceptions will be made for water bottles with airtight lids only.

Fitness Classes and Gymnasium - Martial arts and aerobic classes are offered throughout the year. All classes are free and require no previous experience. Come to the MMSC for class meeting times.

The upper floor of the MMSC is a basketball court. This gymnasium is used for basketball games, volleyball games, tournaments and open recreation. The gymnasium is also utilized by the university for special functions.

Wellness Programs - Wellness Programs are offered throughout the year in the MMSC and the Fitness Center at both campuses. For information about wellness programs, consult the monthly calendar of events available in the Office of Student Activities at each campus.

Fitness Equipment - The MMSC has a wide variety of cardiovascular and strength training machines, as well as a large selection of free weights. Patrons are encouraged to use the Personal Trainer as a resource in the proper use of machines and equipment.

Game Room - The MMSC Game Room is home to many different purposes. The facility houses a billiards table, foosball table, ping-pong table, cable television, and athletic mats. The space is used for classes, special functions, and recreational tournaments.

Staff

Desk Attendants - Desk Attendants are the staff members at the front desk who collect your IDs when you check in. Desk Attendants can help you with general questions about the use of the facility and they are your first contact for reporting maintenance and equipment needs and any other concerns about the facility.

Program Coordinator - The Program Coordinator, Aaron Vice, is responsible for the day to day activities of the MMSC. He can answer broader questions about program policies and procedures.

Personal Trainer - Mark Brticevich is the certified personal trainer and fitness consultant. Mark is available Monday through Friday to help MMSC patrons create a personalized fitness program, instruct or fine tune proper technique, offer guidance on nutrition, and stress management. No appointment is needed and there is no cost for MMSC patrons.

Lockers - Daily use lockers are available in the men’s and women’s locker rooms located within the Fitness Center.

Fitness Center Fitness Equipment - The Fitness Center has cardiovascular and strength training machines, as well as free weights. Equipment includes treadmills, an elliptical machine, exercise bikes, leg press, military press, and a Smith machine.

Fitness Center Personal Trainer - Fitness programs, fitness workshops and small group and individualized personal training are offered at no cost for Fitness Center patrons. Contact the Center for Campus Life, Room 430, to schedule an appointment with the personal trainer.

Programs - Wellness programs are also offered throughout the year. For more information about fitness programs, consult the monthly calendar of events available at the Center for Campus Life, Room 430.

The Recreation Room is a great place to relax before, between, or after classes. Located in the Licht Student Center, this area features a pool table, foosball table, couches, chairs and a big screen TV with cable for the Roosevelt community to enjoy. Roosevelt students may check out pool equipment in the Center for Campus Life with their Roosevelt ID.
