Salary Negotiation Studies have shown that salary negotiating, as a rule, is extremely limited in success for new graduates with very little or no experience. In many cases it can jeopardize the offer if not handled professionally. However, for those with experience this may be something to consider if your research shows that the salary being offered is not competitive and you really want the job. During negotiating and/or interviewing sessions, conduct yourself in a confident, business like manner. Avoid confrontations and be confident without being arrogant. Continue to highlight your skills, capabilities and knowledge. Remember, the employer is interested in what you can do for the organization, so tailor everything you say to fulfilling the needs of the prospective employer. Refer to your salary research in the negotiating process. |
