NEW - Important information regarding credential files

In the past, the Office of Career Services maintained credential files for graduates of Roosevelt’s programs. With the widely accepted use of electronic credentials submission, we discontinued this service in 2005. Many of these files have not been accessed in a number of years and the information is out of date. As a result, the Office of Career Services will begin the process of destroying old files.

We have researched similar programs at other universities and colleges and have adopted a procedure for proper disposal.

Credential files were created as a repository of references and career related data for Roosevelt students and have been maintained by Career Services. Not all Roosevelt graduates have credentials files. Credentials files are separate from academic records and do not include transcripts.

Typical credential files contain:

• Letters of recommendation
• Biographical information
• Resumes
• Student teaching evaluations
• Other relevant career related material

First, we would like to give you the opportunity to claim your file and its contents. If you would like for us to send you the contents of your file, please fill in our online request form (click here). You must do this by November 1, 2008.

If you have accessed your file in the last five years, we will retain that file for five years after which it will be shredded.

After November 1, 2008, we will begin shredding the files so that your confidential information is properly destroyed.
