Frequently Asked Questions
The BSN degree completion program is designed for that person who is a Registered Nurse, typically having completed an associate degree program from a community college or a diploma from a hospital based nursing program. The BSN degree completion program builds on your past education and experience. Courses in this BSN degree completion program will consist of nursing, general education and seminar courses. The BSN Degree completion program at Roosevelt University is a total of 120 credits. You will receive a minimum of 62 credits from your pre-licensure nursing program, leaving 58 credits required for the BSN completion program coursework. Of these 58 credits, 34 are in nursing and 24 in general education and support courses. Some of these courses may be transferred in from a community college or four year university/college. Please meet with an advisor or counselor at Roosevelt to help determine courses that can be transferred. Click here to view the curriculum requirements
At this time, a maximum of 66 credits can be transferred from a community college. A minimum of 30 credits must be taken at Roosevelt University (RU) to earn the degree from RU.

That really depends on you. If you are a full-time student and follow the suggested plan of study, you can complete the program in two years. On the other hand if you take only 1 or 2 courses a semester, it will take considerably longer. Click here to view the suggested plan of study
At this time, because Roosevelt University does not offer a pre-licensure RN program, you would have to get your RN education elsewhere and pass the RN licensure exam before you would be admitted to our program.
Students accepted to the BSN degree completion program will enjoy a 20% reduction in tuition for courses required in the program. Because there is typically an annual increase in tuition (just like there is in everything), the exact tuition cost is difficult to predict. It depends on which years you are actually enrolled in course work and how long you take to complete the degree.
The minimum GPA required is a 2.0.
First off, the program can be approached on a part-time basis. Secondly, the Nursing courses themselves will be scheduled in an eight week block, as a blended format. This allows you to come to campus just once per week, and complement your learning by doing some of the course work on-line. We are designing a program schedule that appeals to the working adult learner.
No
You may choose to pursue a BSN for personal fulfillment reasons or to have an opportunity to apply for select RN jobs that require or prefer a BSN. Also, you may wish to pursue an MSN at some point, in which case you'll need to have your BSN.
