Welcome to our website. We hope that as you surf through these pages, you will find points of connection and potential collaboration. We are proud of the expanded programming of the Mansfield Institute for Social Justice and Transformation. We welcome two new Directors to the MISJT: Dr. Pamela Robert is creating a Transformational Learning program that will provide opportunities for our students, faculty and community partners to engage in mutually beneficial learning and action. Dr. Bethany Barratt is creating a broad array of Social Justice programs throughout the university including: a Social Justice Certificate, a Social Justice Summer Institute, and a variety of programs that connect and inform us about the complexities of achieving transformation in the world and in our lives today. The Mansfield Institute can now be found on the 8th floor of the historic Louis Sullivan Auditorium Theatre building. Please stop by to visit us. Transformation, personal and social, happens in the context of interaction, dialogue with others, and action grounded in thoughtful analysis. The Institute has, for years, developed strong collaborative efforts that have allowed us to provide a range of programs and tap into the expertise of folks doing social justice work, research and activism. AIDS, gender based violence, genocide, reparations, examining the continued effects of Agent Orange in Viet Nam, are just a few of the issues we have addressed through collaborative efforts. As you surf our pages, you will no doubt see the extent of our collaboration. The MISJT has been strengthened by the work of individuals at Roosevelt University. Most recently, the commitment of Dr. Nona Burney, Dr. Steve Meyers, Ms. Lesley Slavitt and Dr. Lynn Weiner have meant that our long term plan for the Institute is both brilliant and clear. Of course, we are in a wonderful position of having the forum from which we can do social justice work and this would not be possible without the shared vision and support of Alexis Mansfield, Meme Hopmeyer and the entire Mansfield family. Please reach out to us, join us, ask to collaborate with us or just come to our events. Peace and Justice, Heather M. Dalmage Director, Mansfield Institute for Social Justice and Transformation
