Service Learning Pro (SLPro)

A single point of management for connecting client schools with service needs in their communities. Through use of an online database management system and an easy to use interface, school staff, agencies, and faculty can enter and review current and upcoming service opportunities. Web site visitors looking for service opportunities can easily connect with agencies needing help.

http://www.servicelearning.org- Government website with information on the history of service learning, recent developments within the field, and a library of publications and journal articles.

www.compact.org-  Campus compact website which seeks to get college students more involved in volunteer opportunities in their community. Site features publications, news, volunteer database, and also example course plans and syllabi.

             

www.nylc.org National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC). Basic information on service learning, a network to connect schools interested in SL, and a resource database. On of the first supporters of SL.

http://www.service-learningpartnership.org/ A partnership between teachers and schools who are interested in advancing the use of service learning in the everyday curriculum. Has teaching resources for faculty who want to incorporate SL.

http://www.nationalservice.org/ Website for all government sponsored service programs. Information on how students can get involved.

http://www.learningindeed.org/index.html Basic information on service learning. Policy section where there is instructions on how to change curriculum so that service learning is included.

http://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/cr/sl/research.asp Website with compiled research papers on the effectiveness of service learning.

http://www.pointsoflight.org/ Resources, organizations, and contact information for those interested in all forms of service.

http://www.marylandpublicschools.org/MSDE/programs/servicelearning/ Maryland is the first state to require high school students to complete service learning before they graduate. Website has teaching rubrics, evaluation tools, and guidelines.

http://www.e4ce.org/ Non-profit organization whose goal is to create more civic minded students through the adoption of service learning in classrooms. Website has a database of links, papers, books, and successful programs.

http://www.nsee.org/ Information on conferences, scholarship opportunities, and also a member’s area where educators can discuss the use of experiential learning.

http://www.illinoiscampuscompact.org/ Information for university presidents and faculty on how to start and maintain a healthy transformational learning program. Calendar of professional events and trainings. Lists of students and faculty award recipients.

http://www.imaginingamerica.org/  Imagining America is a national consortium of colleges and universities committed to public scholarship in the arts, humanities, and design. Public scholarship joins serious intellectual endeavor with a commitment to public practice and public consequence.

http://www.aacu.org/ The American Association of Colleges and Universities’ site provides detailed descriptions of its projects including the Diversity Initiative, in which service-learning and campus community partnerships play an important role, and the new Center for Liberal Education and Civic Engagement, a joint initiative with Campus Compact.

http://www.ccph.info/ Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) promotes health through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions, using service-learning, community-based research, community service, and other partnerships strategies. This site contains a variety of resources, including syllabi and assessment tools.

http://www.umich.edu/~mjcsl/ The Michigan Journal of Community Service-Learning is a peer-reviewed academic journal containing papers written by faculty and service-learning educators on research, theory, pedagogy, and issues pertinent to the service-learning community. The site contains abstracts of MJSCL articles and information on subscribing and submitting papers.

http://www.ipsl.org/ The International Partnership for Service-Learning coordinates programs that unite academic study and community service, making the two activities more relevant and enriching. This site includes information on undergraduate and graduate programs in 14 countries.
