RU Perspective Testimonials There was not one single greatest learning experience in this program. The experience itself was paramount in the following ways:
Earl Watson Roosevelt Perspectives expanded my understanding of the university’s different areas, functions, and operational mechanisms. By the end of the year, I came to compare a university to a symphony with its conductor and talented musicians, divided into sections, each with its own strengths and dependencies on others that together produce a sound unlike anything individual members could produce. The result is unique, consistent but changing with every performance, and, if done well, tremendously satisfying. Chris Chulos During the past year as a result of the RU Perspectives Program, I have gained valuable knowledge about the operation of the University. The opportunity to speak one on one with Dr. Middleton and Chairman James Mitchell was helpful to understand the University from a much different view than mine. In many of the meetings we concentrated on areas which I was unfamiliar and I learned how we all work together and how well it really does work. As a result of the Institutional Advancement presentation and questions following it, I discovered that I could provide them with important information that they were unaware that I had. This information would allow them to do a more accurate accounting of their postage expenses. Susan Johnston Getting to know fellow administrators in more depth made this opportunity a meaningful one. I learned more about the university, was inspired by the commitment I saw on their parts to the university and gained information on how to more effectively use the personnel resources available to me. It also confirmed and re-inspired me to fulfill the need to be a contributing member of the university. I was able to clarify some misunderstandings on the part of the group regarding the role of marketing and its difference from Public Relations. I was motivated to return to giving to Roosevelt in a monetary sense after our meeting with Dr Middleton and sharing some personal frustrations with the member from Institutional Advancement. I feel refreshed, re-invigorated and believe my experience in this program will have benefits for the staff in Academic Advising as well. Julie Stock Participating in the Perspectives program gave me an appreciation of how we are all working, in our various capacities, toward the same goals. I felt more knowledgeable about and connected to the University in a meaningful way. I would highly recommend the program. Jeanette Simon
