Roosevelt University Albert A. Robin Campus
Training and Development | Human Resources

Roosevelt University first began offering classes in the northwest suburbs in 1978. In 1986, the school moved to its first "permanent" site, Forest View High School in Arlington Heights. The move to the Schaumburg facility in September 1996 has allowed Roosevelt to continue expanding both academic and cultural offerings.

The Albert A. Robin Campus is located on 27 acres of land, adjacent to the Woodfield corporate and retail center. It is ideally situated at the crossroads of Illinois Route 53 and Interstate 90 in the heart of a technology and business region designated by the state as the Golden Corridor. The 240,000-square?foot campus houses more than 60 classrooms, an electronic library, a computer lab, six science labs, a bookstore, student services, and an innovative child development center established in cooperation with Zurich-American Insurance Group. The center will provide quality childcare for employees of Zurich-American and Roosevelt University students and staff. It will also be a learning lab for students in early childhood education, psychology' and a variety of disciplines.

The Robin Campus is not a satellite location. It is a full-service campus where customer-service oriented professionals are able to meet all your needs, from academic advising to assisting with research projects.

The Albert A. Robin Campus (AARC) is home to the university's Center for Strategic Alliances (CSA). The CSA focuses on creating long-term, productive relationships between Roosevelt and business and industry in the metropolitan Chicago. The CSA works with suburban constituents in education, government, professional associations and cultural institutions, drawing on Roosevelt's academic strengths to help identify and respond to the issues and needs of the region. The CSA's Institute for Continued Learning offers peer-led courses to more than 100 retired and semi-retired adults. The CSA also presents professional development seminars with a variety of collaborators.

Albert A. Robin was born in 1912, the son of a Russian-Jewish immigrant father and a Polish-Jewish immigrant mother on Chicago's west side. Caught up in the Depression and his family's financial problems, Robin dropped out of high school in 193 1. In 1935, with virtually no resources and only a single contract for a $125.00 fence, he founded the Robin Construction Company. Although he never graduated from high school, Robin firmly believes in the importance of education. With a $1 million endowment, he established the Albert A. Robin Scholarship Fund that gives children of low and middle-income backgrounds the chance for a college education.

In 1986, his gift of $1 million made possible the establishment of Roosevelt University's Albert A. Robin Campus in Arlington Heights. He pledged an additional $2 million so that Roosevelt could relocate to its current location. Robin has served for many years on the Roosevelt University Board of Trustees and is now a Life Trustee.
