Tax Deferred Retirement Plan 403(b) Full-time faculty and full- and part-time (more than 20 hours per week) administrators who are contracted to work 20 or more hours per week, are eligible to participate in this plan. Whether or not contributions are being made by the University toward a retirement plan, you may make your own voluntary contributions by salary reduction. That is, your contributions will reduce your taxable income for federal and state income tax purposes. Contributions may be made in any amount subject to the maximum limitations of Section 403 (b) and sections 415, 402(g) and 414(v) of the Internal Revenue Code. Minimum contribution amounts may be specified by TIAA-CREF or Fidelity. Detailed information about all aspects of the plan is available in the Human Resources Office. Also, annual calculations of your personal maximum contribution limitations under the law can be made by TIAA/CREF, Fidelity, or the University’s Director of Human Resources, upon your request. Changes in your contribution amount are allowed at March 1 and September 1 (or when annual University-wide salary changes are announced). You may direct your voluntary contribution to be deposited into either:
Both TIAA / CREF and Fidelity send their participants a quarterly report showing the status of the participant’s account. TIAA/CREF 800-842-2776 www.tiaa-cref.org |
